Design and UX question (not covered in documentation)

Hello, is it acceptable for me to code a custom input field for example search input field, to accompany a board or widget view? I would like to position this, in the centre of the view if acceptable. Please indicate if this might affect judging of the app.

    Hey Ted! Without actually seeing it we wouldn't be able to be 100% certain but certainly sounds acceptable in theory!
